SEMICON Week Taipei 2026: Grenoble Alpes at the Heart of the Global Semiconductor Ecosystem
The first week of September brought Taipei to the centre of the global semiconductor world, and UBIK was there, representing Invest in Grenoble Alpes alongside some of France's most prominent deep tech players.
From high-level industry dialogues to evening networking events and three days on the French Pavilion, SEMICON Week 2026 was one of the most intensive and productive editions yet for the Grenoble Alpes presence in Taiwan.
The French Pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan 2026
For the third consecutive year, the Chambre de Commerce et d'Industrie France Taïwan organised a French national pavilion at SEMICON Taiwan, and this year's edition was the largest to date, with 10 participating companies, up from 7 the previous year.
The pavilion brought together a compelling cross-section of the French semiconductor ecosystem: VEOLIA GROUP, CEA-Leti, SiPearl, Inventec Performance Chemicals, Technic Inc., Quobly, STMicroelectronics, ECM Greentech, Ion Beam Services and Qolumbus.
This year, CEA-Leti and Invest in Grenoble Alpes shared a booth, a deliberate choice that allowed for a unified and complementary presentation of the Grenoble ecosystem: world-class research infrastructure on one side, territorial attractiveness and investment support on the other.
French Silicon Night: The 5th Edition
Sponsored by Invest in Grenoble Alpes and CEA-Leti, the 5th edition of the French Silicon Night brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and institutions from France and Taiwan at Taiwan Tech Arena on the eve of the salon.
The evening opened with remarks from Frédéric Laplanche, who highlighted Taiwan's strategic importance for France and the need to keep building trust between like-minded partners. Karen Yu, President of ITIC, then took the floor to present a landmark new initiative: a co-investment and cooperation programme between ITIC and Bpifrance, with a shared ambition to co-invest, co-create and co-scale between the French and Taiwanese ecosystems.
Yole Semiconductor Tour: Grenoble Alpes in the Spotlight
At the Yole Semiconductor Tour evening event, Pascal Viaud and the CEA-Leti teams took the floor as sponsors to present the strengths of the Grenoble Alpes ecosystem to an audience of Taiwanese and international semiconductor professionals.
The sponsored booth, animated with Chartreuse jaune and verte cocktails, a nod to Grenoble's iconic local identity, became one of the most visited spots of the evening, sparking conversations that went well beyond the drinks. Flyers and documentation on Grenoble Alpes and its investment opportunities were made available throughout the event.
The reception from both visitors and the Yole team was enthusiastic, a reminder that place branding, when done well, opens doors.
CHIPDIPLO & European Investment Forum: Strategic Dialogues
Beyond the exhibition floor, SEMICON Week also offered important moments for high-level dialogue. UBIK participated in CHIPDIPLO, the Europe–Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Dialogue, a strategic exchange forum bringing together European and Taiwanese industry stakeholders to discuss supply chain resilience, technology sovereignty and bilateral cooperation opportunities.
On the sidelines of SEMICON, UBIK also attended the European Investment Forum (EIF), a platform dedicated to connecting European and Taiwanese investors, institutions and innovators around shared priorities in deep tech and semiconductor financing. Both forums underlined the growing importance of the France–Taiwan axis within the broader European semiconductor strategy.
